A Federal High Court sitting in Minna, Niger State yesterday turned down the application by former Governor of Niger State, Dr Muazu Babaginda Aliyu, to release his international passport to enable him travel for lesser hajj.
Babangida Aliu and Umar Muhammad Nasko, a former commissioner of environment, parks, gardens and forest resources are standing trial on eight-count charges for allegedly laundering ecological fund of about N2 billion.
The former governor had at the resumed hearing in the case brought against him by the EFCC last Wednesday approached through a written application asking the court to grant him leave to enable him embark on the pilgrimage.
But Justice Yellim Bogoro insisted that the former governor must always present himself at the trials.
