A 27-year-old man, Riliwan Issah, on Thursday pleaded guilty before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos to stealing a N3.5m prepaid meter.
The accused, of no fixed address, was arraigned on a three-count charge of breach of peace, stealing and unlawful entry.
The Prosecutor, Insp Julius Babatope told the court that the offences were committed on Jan. 25 at noon at No. 47, Coates St., Ebute Meta.
He said that Issah had falsely presented himself as a PHCN staff and entered unlawfully into the residence of one Patience Williams with intent to steal the prepaid meter where it was installed.
The offences, he said, contravened Sections 285, 306 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Ajibade, adjourned the case till Jan. 30 for presentation of facts and sentencing.
